Advanced Electrolysis

A wide range of skin blemishes can be easily treated often with immediate and effective results leading to blemish-free smooth skin.

Advanced Electrolysis is a safe comfortable and effective treatment used to treat a wide range of skin blemishes.

The tip of a fine, small probe (about the size of an eyelash) is introduced along the area to be treated and a tiny energy current is discharged. This dries up and destroys the condition which often disappears as it is being treated. Further Advanced Electrolysis treatments may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.

Types of conditions that can be treated :

  • Facial Thread Veins

  • Spider Naevus

  • Blood Spots

  • Skin Tags

  • Milia

  • Warts

  • Age Spots

  • Xanthomas

The area worked on must not be over-treated and your skin reactivity will be taken into account. When we formulate a treatment plan for your Advanced Electrolysis, we will carefully consider techniques and treatment intervals, taking into account your requirements. The Advanced Electrolysis treatment itself is a little uncomfortable but easily tolerated. There are minimal after effects, with a little tightness and scabbing to be expected.

Mixing Electrolysis methods.
The method chosen is a decision we make and will be determined by the blemish(es), condition of the skin, your compatibility and equipment we have. As each case is different, you pay for the length of time you are treated with a minimum of 15 minutes.

Facial Thread Veins

Thread veins are not broken capillaries but rather permanently dilated capillaries. There are numerous causes including ageing, smoking, hereditary, temperature extremes and hormones.

Spider naevus

A spider naevus is a central. dialated blood vessel, with smaller capillaries radiating from it like the legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the cheeks.

Blood Spots

These are bright red vascular blemishes which lie just under the surface of the skin. They are dome shaped or slightly raised and are frequently found on the midriff back or front. Most people aged over 30 have at least one and they are even more common in men than women.

Skin Tags

Skin Tags are very common and most frequently found on the neck and face. They can vary in size from a tiny speck to the size of a large pea or even larger.

Milia

These are tiny white, hard lumps containing keratin which lie superficially under the surface of the skin and can be easily treated with Advanced Electrolysis techniques. Their exact cause is unknown although they are often associated with dry skin which can be acidic.

Warts

There are various types of warts, including plantar, common, seborrheic and verrucas. All can be easily and successfully treated with Advanced Electrolysis. Warts can develop individually or in clusters. Seborrheic warts become more common with increasing age and can grow up to two inches across.

Age Spots

The term age spot, or lentigines, refers to the brownish spots that, over time, appear on the face and body as a result of over exposure to the sun. As we age our skin is subjected to more and more sun damage. Our skin produces melanin pigment which absorbs sunlight and helps naturally to protect our skin from UV rays. However as we age, our skins natural ability to fend off UV rays from the sun begins to deteriorate, and as a result, we see the development of age spots. These age spots can be effectively removed and treated with Advanced Electrolysis.

xanthomas

Xanthomas are deposits of fatty material below the surface of the skin they can range in size from very small to more than 3 inches in diameter. They may be a symptom of metabolic disorder. They may appear anywhere on the body. Xanthelasma Palpebra is a common type that appears on the eyelids often found both eyelids ‘butterfly’ effect. The cause is unknown but typically associated with an elevated cholesterol level. Xanthomas can be easily treated with Advanced Electrolysis.

Moles

Hairs from moles and moles themselves can be treated using Advance Electrolysis. Once treatment has started the mole may reduce in size and colour. Hairs in moles are generally deep terminal hairs with a very rich blood supply. Repeat Advanced Electrolysis treatments are required.

IMPORTANT: Recognising moles

It is essential to assess the health of the mole through a comprehensive skin consultation. In many cases healthy moles can be pigmented or a small blemishes on the skin that often appear in the first few decades of life in almost everyone. Unusual irregular shaped or pigmented moles can indicate an increased risk of melanoma, however malignant melanomas can develop from both existing moles or from healthy skin.

The ABCDE rule helps recognise suspicious moles.
A - Asymmetry
B - Blurred Borders (irregular, or jagged edge)
C - Colour variation
D - Diameter larger than 5mm (1/4 inch)
E - Elevation (especially when uneven)
E - Evolution (changes over time)

Referral to a GP may be necessary prior to Advanced Electrolysis treatment.
